The Humber International Entrance Scholarships are partial tuition awards of $1,000 to $4,000, not the fully funded scholarships many websites still advertise. Humber Polytechnic in Toronto currently offers a $2,000 President’s International Entrance Award, a $2,000 entrance scholarship for diploma students, bachelor’s degree scholarships from $1,500 to $4,000 and a $1,000 award for students already in Canada. This guide to the Humber International Entrance Scholarships explains each award from Humber’s own page, how to qualify, what the awards do not cover and how to apply for the 2027 intakes.

This page is part of our complete guide to Canada scholarships for international students.

Quick answer: most Humber awards are automatic, and none covers full tuition. Outside Canada, the President’s International Entrance Award pays $2,000 if you accept your offer, submit your study permit application and pay your deposit by the dates for your intake. Bachelor’s students get $1,500 to $4,000 based on high school GPA. Recipients still pay the first semester in full.

What Changed: Why the Old Humber International Entrance Scholarships Numbers Are Wrong

  • No full tuition scholarship. Older guides list one full tuition scholarship and one $5,000 award in January, and seven $5,000 and two $3,000 awards in September. Humber’s current scholarship page does not list them.
  • Humber is now Humber Polytechnic. Humber’s page uses that name.
  • No application form in your acceptance package. The entrance and degree awards are assigned automatically, and the President’s International Entrance Award needs no form either.
  • Renewal is 80%, not 75%. The bachelor’s degree scholarships are renewed if you achieve 80% or above in each year.
  • Master’s study is not covered. The awards are for diploma, advanced diploma and bachelor’s students.

Humber International Entrance Scholarships: The President’s International Entrance Award

The President’s International Entrance Award is the main award for international students applying from outside Canada. It is a one-time $2,000 bursary for students without a Humber study permit who apply to an eligible full-time program. The English for Academic Purposes program is not eligible. To receive and keep the award you must:

  • accept your offer of admission within the window for your start term;
  • submit your study permit application to IRCC by the date for that term;
  • pay the $3,000 tuition deposit and the remaining program and ancillary fees by the due dates on your letter of acceptance;
  • register and stay enrolled as a full-time international student past the tenth day of classes;
  • not receive a refund of the fees for the awarded term.

The award is granted only once per student and is non-refundable. If you do not meet every condition, Humber revokes it. For the 2026 intakes the dates were:

Start termAccept your offer betweenSubmit study permit application by
January 202614 April and 31 October 20257 November 2025
May 20261 September 2025 and 13 February 202627 February 2026
September 202615 November 2025 and 10 July 202617 July 2026

Humber’s page now lists January and May 2027 starts, and the table shows the dates last year, so check the live page for the 2027 windows. If the January 2027 window follows the same pattern, the acceptance cut-off is around the end of October 2026, which is close, so check Humber’s page now.

The International Entrance Scholarship for Diploma Students

New students starting a diploma or advanced diploma are considered for a CAD 2,000 reduction in tuition over the first two semesters. Humber’s page says:

  • no separate application is needed, and awards are given automatically to eligible students after they begin;
  • students with the highest GPA, calculated from your high school transcripts during admission, are chosen;
  • no more than one student from any single country can receive it for the same starting semester;
  • the award is credited to your MyHumber account after the tenth day of classes in two $1,000 instalments, and both are applied to the second semester;
  • only successful recipients are notified, after day 10 of the first semester.

The number of awards is small. Humber’s earlier version of the page listed 20 for September, 15 for January and 5 for May, and the current page states 35 scholarships for new students starting in September 2026, awarded on a first-confirmed basis. Because the two figures differ, check the live page for your intake.

Humber Bachelor’s Degree Scholarships

Bachelor’s Degree scholarships are for students coming straight from high school who have not attended college or university and did not study in Humber’s English for Academic Purposes program. They are unlimited in number and are awarded automatically on high school academic achievement.

Award amountRequired high school GPARenewable?
$4,00095% or higherYes
$3,50090 to 94.9%Yes
$3,00085 to 89.9%Yes
$2,00080 to 84.9%Yes
$1,50075 to 79.9%One time

Renewable awards are reissued if you achieve 80% or above in each year of the degree. A student who qualifies for the top award and renews it for all four years of a four-year bachelor’s degree would receive up to $16,000 in total, while the $1,500 award is a one-time credit. Graduates of Humber’s English for Academic Purposes program with a GPA of 80% or higher in Level 8 who enter a bachelor’s degree get a one-time $1,500 scholarship.

Other Humber Awards for International Students

  • International Onshore Scholarship: a one-time $1,000 for international applicants already living in Canada. It is awarded first-come, first-served to those who accepted their offer and paid their tuition. Applicants inside Canada can also get fast-track offers and may be able to waive the $100 application fee.
  • Degree Transfer Scholarships: students entering a Humber degree after an Ontario college certificate or diploma with a GPA of 80% or higher receive a one-time $1,500 or $2,500. Humber’s text gives $2,500 for a diploma while its table says $2,000, so confirm the amount.
  • English for Academic Purposes awards: faculty nominate recipients each fall, with awards of $250 to $500.
  • LanguageCert University and College Pathways Scholarship: $1,000 for students in a Humber pathway English program who have conditional acceptance.
  • Barbados Canada Foundation Scholarships: $4,000 a year for youth of Barbadian heritage.

What the Humber International Entrance Scholarships Do Not Cover

  • The first semester. You pay the first semester in full, and awards are credited after day 10.
  • The $3,000 deposit. You must pay it before the due date on your letter of acceptance, even if you expect an award.
  • Living costs. A single study permit applicant outside Quebec must show $23,448 for living costs from 1 September 2026, plus tuition and travel. IRCC expects your funds not to depend on Canadian jobs.
  • The provincial attestation letter. College and undergraduate applicants generally need one before the study permit.

Even though most awards are automatic, a strong application still matters for admission. See our guides to a recommendation letter for a scholarship and a English proficiency certificate, and our guides to universities in Canada without IELTS.

Common Mistakes with the Humber International Entrance Scholarships

  • Believing a full tuition scholarship exists. Humber’s current page lists awards of $1,000 to $4,000.
  • Missing the President’s Award dates. Both the acceptance date and the study permit date apply for each intake.
  • Skipping the deposit. The award is revoked if the $3,000 deposit and fees are late.
  • Expecting the award in your first semester. It is credited after day 10 and the entrance scholarship goes to the second semester.
  • Looking for an application form. Most Humber awards have none.
  • Applying for master’s funding at Humber. The awards cover diploma and bachelor’s programs.
