Role of Director of Programmes: The British Council is seeking a Director of Programmes to play a crucial role in implementing strategic plans for Ghana. The position involves leading operational management, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and actively securing key partnerships aligned with the British Council’s vision. The director will support change programs, contribute to strategy and plans, and oversee cultural engagement portfolios.

Role-Specific Requirements:

  • Essential: Graduate degree or equivalent work experience, significant experience in program management.
  • Desirable: Financial control or program management qualifications, project management qualification, experience in client-funded work (e.g., FCDO, EU, World Bank).

Role-Specific Skills:

  • More than 5 years of experience leading and managing programs or large projects.
  • Experience in managing multi-country or large programs meeting closure standards and passing audits.
  • Proficiency in working with diverse funding sources and knowledge of compliance rules.
  • Expertise in consortium arrangements, contract management, risk identification and mitigation, and relationship management.
  • Extensive experience in leading large, dispersed project or program teams.
