Exciting Opportunity: Funded Traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Eritrea – Political, Press, and Information Section

Introduction

The EU Delegation to Eritrea is offering a funded traineeship opportunity for young graduates interested in international relations. The traineeship, lasting up to 6 months, will be within the Political, Press, and Information (PPI) Section, commencing in February 2024, subject to budget availability.

Program Details

The selected candidates will be involved in various tasks, including assisting in the organization of public diplomacy activities, coordinating meetings and events, conducting documentary research, supporting the Head of the PPI section and the press officer, assisting other delegation staff as needed, and drafting minutes of meetings.

Eligibility

Applicants must be residents of Eritrea due to the current situation in the country. Desired qualifications include a degree in political science, international relations, law, or economics, or a strong background in one of these fields. Proficiency in Tigrinya (as a mother language) and English is required, with knowledge of Arabic and French considered an asset. Excellent drafting skills, familiarity with Eritrea’s history, legislation, and economy, and proficiency in standard IT tools are prerequisites.

For citizens of EU Member states, proof of coverage against pandemic risks and repatriation costs is mandatory. Additionally, relevant entrance visas and/or temporary residence permits must be obtained based on the traineeship agreement and in compliance with local legislation.

Before applying, candidates are advised to review the dedicated website and the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses, with additional details available on the website. Travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation expenses must be covered by the trainee.
