Background of Rome Centre’s Activities

The Rome Centre’s activities, spanning from 2022 to 2025, align with the Italian Presidency of the G7 in 2024. Focused on critical policy areas, including climate action, youth engagement, and energy transition, the centre advances these goals through two main programs: Youth4Climate and the Italy-UNDP Energy Partnership.

Youth4Climate Initiative

The intern will support the Rome Centre team in various communication and project management activities linked to the Youth4Climate initiative. Duties include preparing communication materials, supporting event organization, and assisting in the dissemination of the Youth4Climate Call for Solutions 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare communication materials (stories, social media content, newsletter, etc.).
  • Provide support for events, webinars, and meetings.
  • Assist in disseminating the Youth4Climate Call for Solutions 2024.
  • Support the delivery of mentorship and learning offers to awarded projects.
  • General administrative assistance to the team.

  • Professionalism: Analytical, positive attitude, effective facilitation, conflict resolution, organizational skills.
  • Communication: Clear and convincing writing and presentation skills.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education: Enrolled in a graduate school program (Preference for master’s level) or in the final academic year of a first university degree program. Fields such as communication, infographic, design, journalism, or related.
  • Experience: Managing online platforms, content creation for social media, producing communication materials. Knowledge at the intersection of youth and climate is an asset. Experience in producing videos, flyers, and other graphics is beneficial.
  • Language: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

Institutional Arrangements

  • The internship position reports to the Coordinator of the Youth4Climate project based in Rome.
  • Interns’ expenses: Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, passports, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.

Stipend

  • A stipend will be provided to cover basic daily expenses related to the internship.
  • Monthly payments for part-time internships.

Insurance

  • Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance.
  • UNDP will not reimburse medical insurance costs.

Subsequent Employment

  • No expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship.

Third-party Claims

  • UNDP is not responsible for claims arising from actions or omissions of interns.
